I believe you are mentioning (APDL & Work Bench).Each of these advantageous because of their inbuilt capabilities. I am mentioning pros and cons.

1.APDL:

Ansys Parametric design language as name indicates it is recommend language.you can do pre-processing & post processing either command prompt or Graphically picking.

Prerequisites:

You must be familiar with FEM .You need to have much detailed understanding of element selection.You have to practice much.. Once after learning you would love to work with APDL. 2.Work Bench

It is easy to do pre-process & post process in work bench.It is easy to work with work bench.Work bench it selects elements .You can save files more effectively.Work bench is easy to learn .

I suggest you to learn APDL which makes you to learn.
