Understood, since i'm new to this, i believe i made a mistake of designing cam in part drawing, and that's why the follower-roller is acting erratically. i'd take advice of Prof. Stancescu and design the cam in accelerator inside assembly environment itself, and then hopefully the follower-roller will behave predictably.

I had designed camshaft in inventor 2024 as a single part (.ipt) , and trying to assemble it in assembly(.iam)

The follower is a rocker arm with cylindrical roller against cam, which is a sub-assembly(iam)

i've kept the sub-assembly as 'flexible', still unable to constain it properly to cams above, as it's giving error prompts.

As said above - without seeing your Inventor files we can not see what is going wrong in your assembly.

Your best bet is to create a surface offset from the cam face the distance of the cam follower radius. Then constrain the axis of the follower to the offset surface. You can then turn off the visibility of the surface.

I have not yet been able to find out why your assembly is not working. For what purpose do you need such an animation? Perhaps you could consider creating an animation using the Dynamic Simulation. An example how that may look can you find >>here<<.

That's very nice of you to have personally looked into my CAD files. I'm just doing such animations for my overall portfolio for job applications. i'd definitely look into dynamic simulation option to see if it works.
