Hello everyone, I am transitioning to freecad from solidworks. I find freecad very good softwere . But as new user I want some informations about work benches that are not set by default in softwere.
Hi,
it depends totally of what you intend to do with FC.
For me I have chosen to to install
and there are a lot of Macros to choose from.
Be aware that you do not have to install the add-ons and macros yourself but via the Addon-Manager that can be accessed through the "Tools" bar on top of FC.
Thank you for your reply sir. I am an automobile engineer and I like to design stuff related to that field and also Have great interest in Mechanical engineering , Aeronautical engineering .
Thank you sir for your recommendations.
Assembly4 and TechDraw are very useful, too and these may already come installed, not sure? Outside the box, but still inside the open-source world, I also use Blender to help manipulate my projects various textures needed for renderings and Inkscape if you create a new page template and need your own title block with your custom logo, etc.

Hello friends, I decided to start a blog. Maybe it will be useful to you. Give me feedback. Please.
How a mechanical engineer’s drawings solve business problems: from idea to implementation
Imagine: you are the owner of a small production facility. You dream of a new line of equipment that will increase your output and make it more competitive. But the problem is that there are no drawings for this equipment, and it is difficult and expensive to find specialists who can develop them.Familiar?
Assembly4 and A2+ workbenches handle assemblies, but they are incompatible. So you will have to test the 2 and choose one.
My added workbenches : assembly4, Curves, Sheet metal, Pyramid and polyhedron, Lattice2 and Force Recompute (a macro that you add with addon manager).
I think that you have to use also Blender software to generate superb rendering or animation.
But I'm just a beginner with Freecad.
Before reccomending any workbenches, maybe first tell us, what you are trying to accomplish in FreeCAD
