Product Designer- Furniture and Hardgoods (Newly created role)

Our client is a leading global, reputable and ambitious eCommerce organisation. They are on the lookout for a Product Designer to join their business to assist with their growth, development and drive revenue and profits through the launch of their furniture and hardware goods that will further enhance and meet their customer's needs.

Ultimately in this role, the successful candidate will have advanced commercial 3D product design skills with proven experience with furniture design. This position will require you to collaborate closely with product leads on designing products that combine function and style, inline with their new product development strategies and brand's signature style. You will support the product leads in the design process from initial concept to sign off of final designs for production on all furniture and hard good products.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this position you will have the following skill-set:

• At least 5 years experience in product design (furniture and homewares hardgoods industry).
• Advanced skills in 3D CAD product design with strong proficiency in software such as Blender, Fusion360, SketchUp, SolidWorks or Rhino.
• Ability to render different textures to a high quality, including textiles, to enhance the visual communication of product designs.
• Excellent communication skills to facilitate direct communication between key internal stakeholders.
• Ability to also speak Mandarin would be highly regarded.
• Comprehensive knowledge of products and materials, with proven ability to recommend appropriate specifications for new and existing products, taking into consideration factors such as market and trend research, durability, sustainability, cost considerations.
• Knowledge of local safety and compliance requirements for the international markets our client sells their products to.
• Ability to use project management software to effectively track project progress and collaborate with team members.
• Demonstrated time management and agility to juggle multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
• Good organisational skills and a proactive team player
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work as part of a small team, with minimal supervision
• Experience working closely with marketing and graph design team to provide initial market ready renders.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design (or related field)

• Nice to have: A background in eCommerce/retail creating product designs that work for online sales channels. An understanding of the AU/NZ aesthetic would be highly regarded.
• Nice to have: Proficiency in 2D design software programs such as Adobe Illustrator for creating any detailed design specifications or CAD flats as required.
