Are you doing a static image? I'd try cheating before trying to render it. By cheating I mean Photoshop in a photo of a candle flame once the rest of the rendering is complete.
There is a pretty good starting image of a candle here.
I'd say any rendering efforts should make a pass through Photoshop before they are complete. It is very handy to work on various layers, have masks, selections, and other control over the final image.
To have the halo appear in a rendering, I think you'll need a rendering tool with volumetric lighting. Keyshot does not have that.
