Ship, Boat, and Yacht Design

While Ship and Boat design is probably not the best group for this question, I would put my two cents in and say that once you have an idea of the size and materials you would be using for this radial engine, I would sketch functional parts together. that is to say all of the block together, all of the cylinder together, piston separate, connecting rod separate, crank shaft separate, since I'm assuming you are using Solidworks or another parametric modeling program, it should be easy to manipulate the parts and check for interferences and then update your assembly. you can also create in context parts if need be as well.

Don't forget you can add mounting holes and features that can be saved down to your component level as well.... If it was myself, I would start with your crankshaft and then connecting rods and then cylinders and then block. Mark

There is a Mechanical engineering group here on Grab Cad and they would more likely be able to provide more input as very few if any boats or ships use radial engines.
