I've ThinkPad P50 with Nvidia Quadro M1000M 4GB GDDR5. I use it for rendering and playing games like NFS (Rivals, Payback), Counter Strike, DOTA 2, GTA V and FIFA 2015 - all in Med-High settings.. ( For tasks like movies, videos, etc. system uses internal GPU, i.e.: Intel HD530 ).

And now the main thing:

On software side, it is utilized by SolidWorks 2018 mainly, but I've used it for ANSYS, SIEMENS NX 12.0, MATLAB R2016a, AutoCAD, Inventor, 3Ds Max, Blender, Adobe (Photoshop CS6 Extended, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Audition). Independently each software works quite well.

Since, I have 16GB GDDR4 RAM currently. My PC struggles sometimes when I use SolidWorks along with other heavy program like 3Ds Max. So amount of RAM also matters. But working on single S/W is always smooth and quite impressive graphic-wise.

Finally, the performance you are going to get also depends on the workload that you are going to have on your system (and this is very important in deciding the specs). So, if you will be working on assemblies with large no. of parts then Quadro of Higher Specs would be better. But for simple assemblies entry-level versions are enough, given that they are latest. Try to stick with the latest release. Please!

I have seen my friends working on S/W with older GeForce & it lags- In rotating views, in rendering, in all things graphics. But, newer GeForce are quite impressive like 1080Ti and it even surpasses my Quadro in most comparisons, because its a newer release, with better performance.

Additionally, I'm not having enough money to add upgrades like SSD for now. So working with WD Scorpion Black HDD is enough for me now. But time-wise booting and loading times are higher. I'm planning to have SSD for myself. Thus, if you can have an SSD it is going to help.

So, If you are thinking of getting a system with Quadro I would suggest you to stick with the latest release in your budget. Also, the performance not only depends on GPU & CPU alone. You need to have an SSD also or at lower costs Intel Optane will work on Intel 7th gen and above processors. It prevents bottleneck, especially the Booting, S/W load times, game loading times, etc.

In AMD, Radeon Pro is also there. It'll be light on your pocket but with pros & cons. https://www.amd.com/en/graphics/workstations

I recently build a computer for my work,

I think looking from a budget point it is a lot better buying a GeForce card then a Quadro and spending the extra cash on the other components.

I work on huge assemblies with about 6000 plus Occurrences and I have a Geforce GTX 1070 and its working well. I suggest getting a SSD and 32 Gb of ram first.

I am working in inventor 2019 and most of the time my CPU and RAM is working the most and working with huge assemblies an SSD really works alot better then HDD.

Yes I agree with you, that GTX 1070 or 1080 works well with CAD software. I use 1080 8 Gb and it works perfect. Also I have Quadro K4200 4Gb and it works well too :) I think, Quardo is better to use for calculation ( I mean simulation, rigid or animation), but nowdays lot of things depend on CUDA's :)

I do think the Quadro Card are very good, Just looking at the price difference and the performance you are getting doesn't seem like a good option to go with quadro cards. I haven't work with a Quadro card before so I might be wrong I have only read online review and watched you tube vids on the subject.
