I think the function you are looking for is "Decal" - search NX Help on the subject. Cheers.
First make View -> visualization -> studio task environment ON (or you can make it on from Render tab also)
Go to View->Visualization-> Decal sticker -> select the IMAGE file and select face on which you want the image.
