patents?

I have a few ideas that I as far as I know have not yet been patented yet. Any information anyone can provide as to the process of finding out if something is already patented, how to go about getting an idea patented and what that entails and what is the cost of a patent, and finally selling a patent would be greatly appreciated.

Google also now has a very extensive patent search. www.google.com/patents/
