Thanks for the tutorial everything worked as planned, except steps 9-10.
I had to create a sketch on the rectangular top edge in order to have a closed sketch. (SW wouldn't let me simply select the top edges ).

How do I make the Surface loft tangent to the face? Why not just take a screenshot of your whole SolidWorks window rather than cutting off crucial feature information?

I'm stupid the step pictures are just pre-shrunk.
