Tuturial for 3d Modeling of Mobile stand in Solidworks 2024

1. Step 1: Setup

   
   

   1. Open SolidWorks: Start a new part file.
   2. Choose Units: Go to Options > Document Properties > Units to set up the measurement units (e.g., mm or inches).

   
   

2. Step 2: Base Sketch

   Create a New Sketch: Select the Top Plane and open a new sketch.

   Draw the Base: Use the Rectangle tool to draw the base of the stand, typically a rectangle large enough to provide stability for the phone (e.g., 100mm x 60mm).

   Extrude the Base: Go to Features > Extruded Boss/Base, and set an extrusion depth (e.g., 5mm) to give the base thickness.

3. Step 3: Vertical Support

   Create a Side Sketch for the Support Arm: Select the Front Plane or any plane perpendicular to the base. Start a new sketch to design the vertical support.

   Draw the Support Shape: Use the Line or Spline tool to create the profile of the support arm. It should extend upward from the back of the base at an angle, typically between 60° and 75° to ensure stability.

   Extrude the Support Arm: Use Extruded Boss/Base to give thickness to the support (e.g., 3-5mm).

4. Step 4: Phone Holder

   
   

   1. Create the Holder Part: Draw a rectangle (e.g., 10mm high x 60mm wide) on the face of the support arm, which will hold the bottom edge of the phone.
   2. Extrude the Holder: Use Extruded Boss/Base to extrude this holder towards the front by about 10mm.

   
   

5. Step 5: Add a Backstop (Optional)

   
   

   1. Create Backstop: To add a backstop for extra support, draw a small ledge near the top of the support arm.
   2. Extrude the Backstop: This can be extruded to provide additional stability for the phone at the top.

   
   

6. Step 6: Fillets and Chamfers

   Add Fillets: Go to Features > Fillet and select any edges you want to round for a smoother look.

   Add Chamfers: If desired, add chamfers to the edges for a modern design.

7. Step 7: Cutouts (Optional)

   Create Cutouts: To make the stand lighter, add cutouts or holes in the support arm.

   Pattern the Cutouts: Use the Circular Pattern or Linear Pattern feature to evenly distribute cutouts.

8. Step 8: Final Touches

   
   

   1. Apply Material: Go to Edit > Appearance > Material and apply a material (e.g., plastic or metal).
   2. Add Text or Logo (Optional): Use the Text tool on the front or base of the stand for personalization.

   
   

9. Step 9: Save and Export

   
   

   1. Save the Model: Save your model in .SLDPRT format.
   2. Export for 3D Printing: If you want to 3D print, export the model as an .STL file (File > Save As > STL).
