what is the category: "FIXINGS" about?

0 0 Beginner
Hi there, well the term "Fixings" is quite ambiguous, The definition of "Fixings" is - Restraint that attaches to something or holds something in place, but a "Fixture" is a work-holding or support device, when a "Fixture" is used, the tool`s movement is relative to the workpiece, but its different to a "Jig" , A jig is a type of custom-made tool used to control the location and/or motion of another tool. A jig's primary purpose is to provide repeatability, accuracy, and interchangeability in the manufacturing of products. A jig is often confused with a fixture; a fixture holds the work in a fixed location. A device that does both functions (holding the work and guiding a tool) is called a jig. A "Tool" on the other hand is anything used as a means of performing an operation or achieving an end.

When i download a part i could not open it and the name is something.rar and i can't open it with SW?

This brings up a great question. Why use Win-Rar to zip the files and not just use the zip utility built into Windows and it’s the same utility that SolidWorks uses for Pack and Go. I don’t like loading unnecessary programs that do the same that I already have. Can someone explain if there is a benefit to using Win-Rar for this?

Tutorial: Image Enhancement With Photoshop

I discovered this while experimenting with a way to make images look like pencil sketches. Imagine my surprise when instead it made the image look more real than before! Now it's become part of my regular post render workflow. I am sure I did not originate this technique but more likely reinvented the wheel. None the less I had not run into it before . An example is in the Added Images link below. Using part of an image by Dave Goetsch, I will walk you through it. http://grabcad.com/library/solidworks-olsryd-9-cylinder-radial-engine--1 I created an Action file for to the Actions palette and you can download it below. It goes in Photoshop/Presets/Actions. But please follow the tutorial so you understand what is going on. Hope you find it useful! Cheers, Ron
