Extruded Surface in SOLIDWORKS

This tutorial shows how to create an extruded surface in SOLIDWORKS
-
Step 1:
To start, create a sketch. This can be done using the line tool. For this tutorial, a Z-like sketch was created. Using the “sketch fillet” tool, add fillets to the corners of the sketch. Set the fillet parameters to 50.00mm like the one pictured below.
-
Step 2:
Once the fillets are set, click the green check mark to create a curved sketch.
-
Step 3:
From there, you’ll need to access your extrude tool. To do this, access your surfaces toolbox by right clicking on the toolbar at the top of your screen. A menu will drop down (pictured below). Select “Surfaces” and the surfaces toolbox will appear on the left hand side of your screen. From this toolbox, select the “extrude” tool.
-
Step 4:
To change how far the sketch extrudes from either side of your original line, you can change the dimensions (in the picture below, the dimensions are 20.00mm).
-
Step 5:
This can be done for both sides of the sketch (Direction 1, Direction 2)
-
Step 6:
Once you are finished selecting the distance each side of your sketch will extrude, click the green check on the right hand of the screen to finalize your sketch.
