How do I make a curvature continuous fillet in SW?
Here is the tutorial and the file I used.
-
Step 1:
Start SolidWorks.
-
Step 2:
On Front plane in part mode make a sketch like this using spline.
-
Step 3:
Extrude it by height say 50mm.
-
Step 4:
Again enter front plane >> sketch and again a spline like this. And have a coincident relation with the end point of previous spline.
-
Step 5:
Extrude it by 50mm also.
-
Step 6:
Under surfaces tab choose fillet.
-
Step 7:
Select face fillet type.
-
Step 8:
For face set 1 select extrude-surface 1 and for face set 2 select extrude-surface 2. adjust direction to inside region.
-
Step 9:
Choose front view for better view of the fillet to be formed.
-
Step 10:
Click fillet options in fillet property manager.
-
Step 11:
Check curvature continuous. And you can see the change in fillet.
-
Step 12:
Change the fillet radius to 20mm.
-
Step 13:
Click OK and the fillet is formed.
-
Step 14:
Under Evaluate tab choose zebra stripes for tangency analysis. And zoom to the surface along the surface-extrude1 and the fillet. You can notice the continuity of zebra stripes.
-
Step 15:
Same goes for surface-extrude2.
-
Step 16:
Disable zebra stripes and you are done.
