How does split body command work in SolidWorks?

tutorial - how to split body command works

1. Step 1:

   there are a body and we want to trim their extensions
   

   

2. Step 2:

   insert>>features>>split
   

   

3. Step 3:

   select a plane. this plane will use for trim body
   and you can select a sketch. I selected both of them
   

   

4. Step 4:

   this step you will see preview. splitted bodyes will be lighted when mous came on
   

   

5. Step 5:

   if you select all bodies and click ok...
   

   

6. Step 6:

   No one goes anywhere. but please attention that you have 3 bodies now
   

   

7. Step 7:

   you can see the bodies
   

   

8. Step 8:

   if you chose some of bodies and tick ''consume cut bodies''...
   

   

9. Step 9:

   you can trim some of them:))
