How to create a block in AutoCAD?

In my first tutorial on GrabCAD I will show you how to create Blocks in AutoCAD.
It is nothing complicated so lets start.

1. Step 1:

   

   
   

   First of all, in AutoCAD, draw some shapes or a gear like I did.

   Then go to Insert tab and click Create Block.

3. Step 3:

   

   
   

   You should get a window like this.

   Choose "Pick point" and then click on the center of the gear or whatever point you want.

4. Step 4:

   

   Next step is to select objects you want to convert to block.

   • Select the whole object and be sure that Convert to block is checked.
   • You can Check Annotative too, that means you can make changes to your block after you convert it.
   • Do not forget to choose your units. (Mine are milimeters as I use ISO standard).

5. Step 5:

   

   Now your block should have been created.

   Go to Insert again and choose Insert.

   
   

6. Step 6:

   

   We can see that the block was created.

   Now click OK and put the gear next to the gear you drew.

7. Step 7:

   

   And that's it! You have successfully created a block in AutoCAD! That is all for this tutorial, I hope I helped you just a little bit :)
