How to model a golf club in SolidWorks using surfacing tools

Basic Step by Step procedure for modelling a forged golf iron.
-
Step 1:
Planar Club Face (hitting face)
-
Step 2:
Lofted hosel (non-circular)
-
Step 3:
Perimeter Edge
-
Step 4:
Back Face (Filled Surface)
-
Step 5:
Fillets
-
Step 6:
Another view of the fillets
-
Step 7:
Cut back face for pocket
-
Step 8:
Model pocket face/faces
-
Step 9:
In this case there are two planar faces parallel to the front face
-
Step 10:
A ruled face connects the rear face with the pocket faces
-
Step 11:
Fillets makes smooth transitions
-
Step 12:
I had to cut away part of the head to improve the flow of the following surface
-
Step 13:
This lofted surface is done in one go and connects the head and hosel
-
Step 14:
Closes the surface model and turns into solid geometry
-
Step 15:
Cut hole for shaft
-
Step 16:
Split into head and ferrule
-
Step 17:
Cut grooves in club face
-
Step 18:
Cut logo and number and additional ornamentation
-
Step 19:
All done. Hope this works for you :-)
