how to open a catpart file of catia v5 in v6 ??
You can Import CATIA parts created in V5 into V6. Remember downward compatibility of V5 to V6 is still not supported. E.g. you can not import a part created in V5R22 in V6 2011x.

Step 1:
Open your V6 session. Go to PLM Access (top right corner) > Import > CATIA File

Step 2:
In the pop up window, select the CATIA part file/s to import. Note: If you select a CATproduct file, the associated CATpart files will automatically be imported. You can add more files to the list by simply selecting "Add File" then press OK and let the "Import Progression" bar finish. In my example I have selected 1 product file.

Step 3:
In the "files to process" window a list of documents associated with my product and the product file itself is shown in the list to import.
Simply press "Import" and let the "Import progression" finish.

Step 4:
Finally the item you have imported will open in the V6 session alongside an "Import Report". You will now be able to search for you parts in the conventional V6 way.
