How to search and automatically select elements

In this video, we will learn how to search and automatically select elements in CATIA. This can be a very helpful time-saving tool, especially when working with large assemblies.

We will start by learning how to use the basic search tools in CATIA. We can search by name, type, color, and other properties. We can also use advanced search operators to combine multiple criteria.

Once we have found the elements we want to select, we can use the automatic selection feature to select them all at once. This can be done by clicking the "Find and Select" button in the search dialog box.

We will also learn how to save our search queries as favorites so that we can easily reuse them later.

By the end of this video, you will be able to search and automatically select elements in CATIA like a pro!

  1. Step 1: Finding the Search Option

To use the CATIA v5 search option, follow these steps:

    Press Ctrl+F.

In the Search dialog box, enter the search criteria in the Name text box.

You can also use the Wild Card characters (* and ?) to search for elements with similar names. For example, you could enter the name s*tch to search for all elements that start with the word sketch.

To filter the results, click on the Filters tab.

In the Filters list, select the filters that you want to apply. For example, you could select the Type filter to only search for elements of a certain type, such as Sketch or Bore.

    Click on the Search button.

The Search dialog box will display the results of your search. You can then select the elements that you want to work with.
