How to use the NACA airfoil data profile

usin the direct entery way to deal with NACA airfoil data profile is a nightmare so this is a better and more efficient way to to the job.
-
Step 1:
Using MS Excel inter the profile data in a worksheet, the profile is a ratio of the wing cord, so you need to multiply the values by the cord to get the real airfoil dimisions.
then copy the resulted values to a new worksheet
-
Step 2:
Save the worksheet as Tab delimited txt file after omitting any thing but the profile data
-
Step 3:
In solidworks Start a new part project and go to the Features tab page
choose Curves button then Curve through XYZ points
-
Step 4:
As the curve File Window popup click Browse button
Choose the .txt file you have been saved before
the curve data will filled up then click OK button
and the airfoil profile aill showup
-
Step 5:
You can not use the profile directly, you needto convert it to a scetch plan, so go on and select a plane that is parallel to the profile and command to a new sketch on it
the convert the curve to the new sketch by convert tool
here it is the converted curve
then you can do what ever you want
