How to Use the Stratasys AR App for the J55 3D Printer

Stratasys unveiled the new J55 full-color 3D printer last month. We wanted to give designers and industry professionals a chance to see it for yourself -- wherever you are -- by offering this augmented reality experience.

  1. Step 1: Download the app to your device from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store

iPhone or iPad (recommended for best experience):

    • Open the App Store app on your Home screen.
    • Browse or search for the app  - Stratasys 3D Printing AR -  then tap the app.
    • You can also use this direct App store link
    • Tap Get. You might need to sign in with your Apple ID.
    • After your app finishes downloading, you can move it to a different spot on your Home screen

Android mobile or tablet (recommended for best experience):

    • Open Google Play from your Home screen.
    • Browse or search for the app  - Stratasys 3D Printing AR -  then tap the app.
    • You can also use this direct Google Play link
    • Tap Install.

  2. Step 2: Place the J55 3D printer in a room

The J55 3D printer was designed to be an office-friendly option while still maintaining quality and maximum designer output. In order for you to see how compact this printer is, we encourage you to open the AR app and place it in a room of your choice.

    To do this:

    • Open the Stratasys 3D Printing AR app.
    • Hold your iPad, iPhone or Android in Landscape Mode.
    • Move your device around the room so the app can scan the best area for you to place the printer -- this might take a minute.
    • When the App has scanned your room and determined the best place, you’ll see the J55 printer appear.
    • Tap “place printer” and you’ll see the J55 moved to the best location.

  3. Step 3: Interact with the J55 3D Printer

Once the printer is placed in your room, the fun begins! You can interact with the printer to learn more about it by tapping the “Hot Spot” icon on the left.

You’ll notice that interactive boxes appear. By tapping each box, you can learn more about that part of the printer.

We encourage you to open the tray and material doors so you can really experience working with the printer.
