Trim & Intersect Parts in an AutoCAD Inventor assembly

Step 1:
First of all in the assembly select the part you want to trim, right click and press edit, then in the modify section of the 3dpart or sheet metal part press the copy object button. Then select the part that will do the intersecting and then press the composite button. And press ok

Step 2:
Then in the 3D model section got to the surface box and press sculpt and then press the remove button and then go to the pull down menu side selection and press the opposite way to the default one. And press ok

Step 3:
As you can see it has sculpted the part to suit the profile you can now just use the delete face feature in the modify box to remove the offcut parts.
