Tutorial - 2D Simplification Static analysis in SolidWorks

  1. Step 1:

    Start SolidWorks in Part mode.

  2. Step 2:

    Tools >> Addins.

  3. Step 3:

Check the SolidWorks Simulation and SolidWorks Toolbox.

  4. Step 4:

Under Office products click Structural steel.

  5. Step 5:

Select Front plane and the beam and click create.

  6. Step 6:

Now we have the sketch for that particular beam.

  7. Step 7:

Edit the sketch and move it to the center.

  8. Step 8:

Under Simulation select New Study in Study Advisor.

  9. Step 9:

In name type Bam and keep the default settings. Click OK.

  10. Step 10:

Select front plane and input depth = 10000mm. Click OK.

  11. Step 11:

Right click the part1 and apply edit material.

  12. Step 12:

Select ASTM A36 Steel which is mostly used structural material.

  13. Step 13:

Right click fixtures and select fixed geometry.

  14. Step 14:

Select lower edge and click OK.

  15. Step 15:

    Select force under external loads.

  16. Step 16:

Select upper edge and input force value 10000N.

  17. Step 17:

    Under run click create mesh.

  18. Step 18:

Change mesh density to fine for better results.

  19. Step 19:

    Click run under run.

  20. Step 20:

After solver is done we will have results.

  21. Step 21:

    Front view.

  22. Step 22:

We can change the plots under results.

  23. Step 23:

Right click Displacement and select probe.

  24. Step 24:

Select on selected entities and then upper edge.

  25. Step 25:

    Click Update.

  26. Step 26:

    Click Plot.

  27. Step 27:

Now we have the plot of displacement vs distance.
