TUTORIAL - How to make a part from tube which is suitable for lasecutting, in SolidEdge ?

Answer

  1. Step 1:

First. To make a dxf from your detail you have to start in sheet metal environment.

  2. Step 2:

Second: You have to greate a tube profile.
Push the "contour flange" button and make a sketch.

Notice, that the contour have to be open. So I´ll alway leave there 0,1 mm gap. NB! No tube radiuses here !

  3. Step 3:

Next: Choose tube thickness and set material inside.

  4. Step 4:

Next: select material table and add tube material and other specification.

  5. Step 5:

On material selection select yoru maerial and after that take "cage" sheet and add inner radius and neutral factor.
Occationally tube manufacturers give us tube outer radius so for us it will be inner radius + material thckness. In this case it´s 6, so I´ll select inner radius 3. And for tube profiles select neutral factor 1.
    Click " add to model"

  6. Step 6:

Now we have a proper tube profile in sheetmetal environment which gives us proper dxf file.
In this tutorial I´d like to show a proper 3 sides cutting as well.

  7. Step 7:

Because laser machines cut profiles always across the plane you have to choose "normal cutout" button for cutting. And in opening sketch draw sketch as shown.
Notice that the bottom corner has radius whish is connected with tube inner wown floor. Lately this radius allows us to change distance between two corner sides.

  8. Step 8:

    This is the outcome.

  9. Step 9:

Next is bending. I think everyone can do that.

  10. Step 10:

Notice ! You have to change "neutral factor" in bend. So open the bending properties. Set neutral factor to average.

  11. Step 11:

And here you are. Very simple tutorial, but real life shows that there are still people who don´t know such things. I hope i was helpful :)
