A footstep bearing, also known as a pivot bearing or journal bearing, is a type of plain bearing used to support rotating shafts. It consists of a cylindrical or conical surface (the bearing surface) that supports the weight of the shaft and allows it to rotate smoothly. The name "footstep bearing" comes from its resemblance to a footprint, where the shaft rests on the bearing surface.
