diverse shape translation to JT or STP

Have found a way to import / translate easy shape files like 3ds, wrl, skp, stl, ifc and so on into JT or STP. The shape files can have texture or not. My interest was how to get the shape files with texture translated to JT. For this, I use PCon Planner and save as 3DS. After this, import it into MeshLab (single texture file / no layer) and save it as WRL (VRML 2). This is than easy to import into Teamcenter Livecyle Visualisation (TCVis) and save as JT. If you like to have more imported WRL/JT files into TCvis (JT2Go) please rename the texture or the view results in TCVis (JT2Go) are bad, looks like unplaced textures. If you like to export files with not a texture another way is to use. The fast one with no colours is to save as stl and import it into your volume modeller. The longer way is here to import it into PCon after this save as Skp (Sketchup) and now is to use Automapki (~40 $ or € / year sorry no freeware I have found) and save as STP file. The result you can now import into a volume modeller and use it there or (and) save it as JT and many other files too. Hope you like this tutorial a bit. If you have any questions please let me know.

Simplification Surface and Surface Mesh

With the surface simplification functionality, you can merge patches together and obtain a proper surface. Combined with the healing feature, you fill the small gaps and connect all the patches together. To verify if the surface you can offset it to see if it is fully healed. The final step is to open the SIMULIA Structural Model Creation application, to mesh the surface and see why is it useful to clean the surface first.

Hi, I am testing open source CAD import for open source FEA & CFD. Acoustics, Bio-Medical, Vehicle CAD for Dynamics such as Off Road Vehicles, etc. I need interesting CAD test cases for everything from acoustics of animals to off road high speed impact. All I need is that the CAD is stitched up when possible. STL is very tricky to convert to solids sometimes but there are work arounds. Pretty much there are 2 levels: 1. Highly representative CAD test cases, but simple, for multi-physics quick what if tests, could be coupled CFD into Mechanical FEA. For example, super clean CAD of 2 gear teeth on a shaft meshing. and 2. Very complex CAD but super clean with no gaps for the Bigger Picture complex analyses. For example, how much computer power do we need to solve more complex large CAD models. More interested in mechanical design but my hobby is the CFD and acoustic analyses of fish swimming. Hundreds of millions of years taught the sharks far more than we know, may be? Very Grateful for any test cases you are happy to share. I am looking for perfect CAD please. Thanks, Simon.
