The Ocean Engineering Program (PEnO) at COPPE/UFRJ is a pioneer in Naval, Ocean, and Coastal Engineering education. Part of the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering (COPPE) at UFRJ, it maintains strong industry ties, initially in ship design and later in offshore oil and gas production, maritime logistics, and renewable energy. The program also focuses on sustainable coastal, riverine, and estuarine engineering and is ranked 17th worldwide in Marine/Ocean Engineering.
