How to extrude cut a specific feature

You need to uncheck the merge result option from your features so that you have multiple bodies. Then when you create the cut you'll have an option called feature scope to select which body to apply your cut to. -Rohit 100's of SolidWorks Tutorials >>>>> Solidwize ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

How to get thicken feature to work on a complex surface or some other way to make this surface into a solid in SolidWorks 2011?

For the thicken feature to work, the curvature of your surface has to be consistent enough that the feature will work. The thicken is failing at the first boundary surface.

how to link bodys to difrent files?

In SolidWorks these are referred to as external references. If you have multiple bodies in a single part, go into the "solid bodies" folder. Right click on one of the bodies and choose insert into new part. This will give you a part without a feature history, but by default this will refer back to the original part. When you modify the body in the original part, the file with the single body will update.

What would be the first step to start off with the demining vehicle design?

There are a few questions you need to answer before getting started on a project like this. Will it be operated by a person or will it be autonomous? You'll need a motor to drive the vehicle as well as a motor to drive the mine scrapper on the front, so you need to know how much torque you'll require out of both of those and then select motors based on that. Are you designing the gearboxes that go inside or can you source them? What is the maximum force or pressure that the vehicle or that front section need to withstand from the landmines?

Solidworks cosmos meshing - does element tolerance affect the results?
Rohit Mitra
in
Design & CAD

Beginner
Yes, if the mesh tolerance is nor small enough, the mesh will not map well to the part. Past a certain tolerance it makes no difference. For example in the part below there is no difference in mesh between a tolerance of .01 and .001, but you can see the difference between .2 and .01.

Most of the time, especially when working with a mixed mesh, as in your ZAP raam TH-edit_24.01.2009-001.sldprt, you have to do a good job of prepping the part.
