Tutorial - Analysis of Bracket in SolidWorks Simulation?

Here is the tutorial.

  1. Step 1:

Open the bracket part in SolidWorks.

  2. Step 2:

Click New study under study advisor in Simulation tab.

  3. Step 3:

Input name Bracket and click OK.

  4. Step 4:

    Click Apply material.

  5. Step 5:

Select alloy steel. Click apply and then close.

  6. Step 6:

Select fixed geometry under fixture advisor.

  7. Step 7:

Select the circular faces of the holes. Click OK.

  8. Step 8:

Select Force under external loads advisor.

  9. Step 9:

Select the top face of the bracket and input force of 1000N.

  10. Step 10:

    Select Create mesh under run.

  11. Step 11:

Change mesh density to fine. Since this is not a big geometry we can decrease the mesh size and increase precision. Even then it's upto you to define the mesh size. Click OK.

  12. Step 12:

    Now our model is meshed.

  13. Step 13:

    Click Run to start simulation.

  14. Step 14:

Now the solver will start solving the problem.

  15. Step 15:

After solver is finished we have our plots. Default is Stress (von-Mises) plot.

  16. Step 16:

Double click Displacement for displacement plot.

  17. Step 17:

Double click Strain for strain plot. Now we have successfully completed the analysis of the bracket model in SolidWorks.
