LEGO - 01 Basic Dimensions & Bricks Explained

68 9 Intermediate
I get a lot of questions about how I create LEGO parts. This is Part I - The Basics. Most "standard" parts can be created using only simple math. Standard parts consist of square, circular, and angled blocks - regular geometric blocks. I will refer to BrickLink (www.bricklink.com/), but many others use similar methods: Peeron: http://www.peeron.com/ BrickOwl: http://www.brickowl.com/ Brickipedia: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/LEGO_Wiki etc.

How to create NPT (national pipe taper) threads using inventor

13 3 Intermediate
I have had people ask me on here how I model npt threads for some of the parts I make, so I figured I would put it out there for others to see as well. Note: if you look at the threaded models I have on this website you will see that I have clearly taken more time on some of them than others, this tutorial will teach you how to do it the right and proper way.

Freecad - repairing 3D files for 3D printing.

2 0 Intermediate
Using Freecad to heal 3D models that are created in other 3D application. Ideal for those who use sketchup to create 3D objects and export them as stl files.

FreeCAD Basic Exercise #1

25 5 Beginner
The objective of this tutorial will be to discover the workflow for the parametric design of a 3D object with Part Design and Sketcher. For this we will model a basic part involving different types of functions.

LEGO - 03 Using Data from LDraw

20 0 Intermediate
Sometimes LEGO bricks don't fall into the regular 0.8/1.6mm rule. This will explain how to get "lumpy" 3D surface data from LDraw DAT files and use them to create your own intelligent parts. *I use the AutoDesk Inventor Pro suite, which includes Inventor Pro and 3D Studio Max. I will discuss using certain file formats, but you need to determine what your software will import/export. *I've been told that IV 2017+ will let you measure the LDraw data directly in Inventor, removing the whole 3DMax conversions steps.

LEGO - 02 Building Bricks with Parameters

37 4 Intermediate
I don't get asked this but it is a very powerful tool and will make your life a lot easier. This also applies to other repetitive parts, not just LEGO bricks, and can be applied with the exact same methods.

Create Revit RFA element from 3D objects

8 1 Intermediate
Create Revit RFA element from 3D objects. * Using Autodesk Inventor * If you have a 3D model file from various programs, you can import into Autodesk Inventor and convert them into REVIT RFA file type elements. You will then be able to load those into your Revit project and use.

Inventor Derive

14 0 Intermediate
The derive command allows you to use models and assemblies as geometry and toolbodies within other part files. For 3D printing it's a perfect way to section complex parts so they can be printed in simpler pieces. Subsequent operations can be performed on the derived part without affecting the original source models and assemblies. Sketches, workplanes, and other work features may also be used from the source models.

LEGO - 04 Extracting Data from LEGO Digital Designer (LDD)

14 0 Intermediate
Sometimes you need to make a complex part and you can't find them on Bricklink or the like. This tut will explain how to capture data, OpenGL-style, from the LEGO Digital Designer (or other 3D apps).

FreeCAD TechDraw Workbench

9 2 Beginner
In this video I show and try to explain how to use several tools of TechDraw Workbench. If you want to create 2D views with dimensions and show details with information then this video is for you. Already I apologize for my English, but comments from other videos asked to enter voice in videos so I'm trying. If you have any questions, I can try to clarify as soon as I can.
